Formal ASB Report
Position Assessment: The craziness of the transition from August to September is right around the corner as this month comes to a close with Club Rush week, from August 26-30, and our Black Light Rally on Friday. This month has been fairly busy for leadership, as we were already back at school for registration on the 6th and 7th, and for link crew/leadership training on the 12th. As for my position, I have been somewhat busy myself. On August 5th, I was sworn in as the 2019-2020 Student Board Member at city hall in Ripon. I was able to attend the board meeting for the month of August, even though it was not the school year yet, so that was a great experience. I will be sworn in again on September 9th as a more official deal. Morty and I also go together after school had started to discuss what will be happening in Student Senate this year and we had our first meeting on the 28th.
Standing Committee: The two most prevalent committees I am involved in for the month of August consisted of the Tri-Tip Committee (along with the rest of ASB), and the Black Light Rally committee. The ASB team had a meeting with Morty on the 15th of August to discuss the elements of the first-semester tri-tip fundraiser that leadership always does.
Special Committees: Shortly after our tri-tip meeting, it was time to prepare for our annual black light rally under Natalie’s reign. She did amazing, as the rally was probably the most successful one I’ve seen in awhile. The seniors had their own special part in the rally; Natalie did a great job facilitating the entire event!
Concerns: As it is still the beginning of the year, I do not have many. I really enjoy Brene Brown, so maybe just having a more positive response from the class during our talks about the book.
Positive Comment: As I said above, I am really enjoying Brene Brown’s book so far. As someone who has an interest in social sciences, I love her outlook on life and everything she has said so far. She has so much wisdom and I can’t wait to dig deeper into “Dare to Lead.”
Change: Not much I am hoping to change… yet.
My Impact: As it is my last year here, I often come back to the question of how I’m impacting my peers. This month, I’ve grown much closer with some of the new students and underclassman. The sophomore and junior officers, more specifically as I am in charge of their journals. Having the opportunity to have them in a group chat and discuss things during class more often has been not only impactful on my experience so far, but hopefully theirs as well.

Position Assessment: This month has been the most insane month of my high school career, without a doubt. It started with homecoming and being a candidate, which was an amazing experience that I am so grateful for, as the study body saw me as someone who deserved to be recognized. Although it was stressful making a speech, a dance, and planning dress up days, it is an experience that I will never forget. Shortly after homecoming, we had our third annual Kyoto exchange. Personally, this particular exchange had the biggest impact on my life compared to previous years. The students this year were all so amazing, and I feel as if I got to know each one at least a little. Considering it is my last year as a host, waving them off was extremely difficult and emotion-filled. As for my position, I had my September board meeting at the very beginning of this month and that went well. Mr. Hobbs is now a trustee, as he was sworn in on the seventh. My next board meeting will be on the 4th of November, and I will most likely be meeting with student council sometime next week along with the rest of ASB.
Standing Committees: Tri-Tip!! These past two weeks have been a wreck, to put it simply. Although the class did end up selling quite a few tickets, we did not reach our goal of 600 and the way the class approached this activity was not efficient at all. Not only did we not sell all of our tickets, but the lack of communication and effort was disappointing. Other than that, though, ASB has had meetings over the weekend to figure out how we can fix these issues for next semester and figure out how we will get the food with the containers. Unfortunately, I got extremely sick on the day Carmen and I were supposed to go to Smart and Final but luckily Jaynell was able to go with her. Now we are preparing for the actual barbeque and are discussing next semester’s in order to improve.
Special Committees: Not in an active special committee.
Concerns: Communication between the entire class and lack of effort from some of our legacy leaders.
Positive Comment: Elias’ group did an excellent job at gathering all of their money and actually going out of their way to meet over the weekend or during the week, which was “required” by the whole class but most groups did not do that.
Change: My ASB team and I need to change how we communicate with each other, and we also need the whole class to get their act together and start working together instead of against each other. Also, we need to emphasize that no person has authority over another. I’ve noticed this issue becoming more prevalent, especially in class positions.
My Impact: I’ve, quite honestly, been disappointed in myself this past month. My communication with my team members was lacking and our work ethic altogether was disappointing. This goes against every single one of our core principles and does not leave a good impression for the underclassmen. I need to work on bettering myself for the rest of the year.
November and December Formal ASB Report

Formal ASB Report
Position Assessment: These past two months have been extremely busy. November was kicked off with our third annual “Dude. Be Nice” week that was full of spirit days. Clubs came together with the leadership class to help decide who our “Dude” would be this year, and we were so excited to honor our special staff member, LJ. November seemed to end quickly, but leadership was busy right at the beginning of December. RHS had their annual “Warm and Fuzzy Week” hosted by Student Senate and me. Students were able to dress up in comfy clothes all week long and ended with a pajama day on Friday! We also had our second annual Holiday Night Rally/Hot cocoa social where each class in leadership, freshmen-seniors, had the opportunity to decorate a holiday tree that follows a theme. All clubs and other programs on campus were invited to participate and the FFA tree ended up being the winner!
Standing Committee: Many of the standing committees have been busy at work these past two months! ACE of the month, ran by Jaynell and Kassidy, is always busy figuring out who the next ACEs are going to be, which requires help from the class and student body by asking them to send in their nominations. Secondly, Publicity and Spirit has been busy as well with the close spirit weeks and videos that need to be coordinated with Technology. They have all done a great job!
Special Committee: The Dude Be Nice committee was hard at work in November. They had to figure out details with the rally, club involvement details, and ways to make LJ feel special, which they certainly did. The leadership class has also just started working on the Valentine’s Day hearts by distributing the heart papers evenly and cutting the hearts with their partner.
Concerns: People not taking 5-10 minutes out of their day to complete their journal that Morty created by herself. It’s not that hard and it is actually a good way to chill for a few minutes during a busy day. Remember: Do Better Next Time, All The Time.
Positive Comment: The leadership class did a great job presenting how to get A-G approved to representatives from Valley Christian High this past week.
Change: This goes back to my concern about the journal. I’d like to see a change in the work ethic from the class, which also goes back to the Core Principle that I mention in my concerns.
My Impact: I believe I have impacted the student body these past two months by always dressing up for each spirit day and really attempting to go all out for each one. Student Senate did a really great job dressing up for their Warm and Fuzzy week, and I do hope that I inspired them to continue dressing up for the rest of the year.

January Formal ASB Report

Formal ASB Report
Position Assessment: The month of January was a busy time for the leadership class, as Winterfest was the first thing on our agenda upon returning to school from break. Even though I am not an officer, I made sure to check in with my classmates and help wherever I am needed. I was able to meet with Mrs.DaBranca early in the month to prepare my board report to present to the district because the meeting was set for later. I talked about the many successes of all the schools in the district and welcomed everyone back to school.
Standing Committee: Many of the standing committees have been busy. Natalie has been working hard at helping organize senior nights for all of the sports this year alongside the rest of the class. Secondly, the ACE of the month, organized by the Public Relations Commissioners, is always doing well and does an excellent job at highlighting the students who are Academic Achievers, Community Contributors, and Effective Communicators.
Special Committee: The Talent Show committee had their busiest time of the year in January, but I was so proud of how well the talent show turned out and enjoyed all performances, especially my own with Spanish 4!
Concerns: Not many concerns. One that is always present that I’d like for us to work on, though, is the fact that we need to be reaching out to people outside of our own classes more.
Positive Comment: I feel as if our talks during Brene Brown have been much better compared to the previous times, which makes me happy because I think we all benefit from it in one way or another.
Change: I’d like to see more effort from the other seniors in leadership. I know many of them are busy, but I know our officers really appreciate any help they can get during events.
My Impact: This month I am proud of the fact that I was able to help out the senior class officers during winterfest and the technology commissioners during the talent show. I believe this has left a positive impact on my class because it shows that I am willing to help wherever I am wanted and not afraid to step out of my comfort zone.
